The DIT Learning, Teaching & Technology Centre (LTTC) is located at the Aungier St. campus, Dublin 2. The remit of the LTTC is to provide training workshops and consultancy supports to DIT Colleges and Schools on matters related to pedagogies, programme design, assessment strategies and student support, as well as offering professional development opportunities for academic staff through a suite of postgraduate programmes in third level learning and teaching. The staff of the LTTC continue to be involved in ground-breaking scholarly research and publishing both nationally and internationally, and our masters students’ theses research has already contributed considerably to innovations in approaches to third level learning and teaching as well as to aspects of further and higher education policy.
The 12 Apps of Christmas short course is being managed and facilitated by Dr. Frances Boylan of the LTTC. Frances graduated from Mary Immaculate College, Limerick (NUI) with a BEd (Hons) and taught for a number of years at primary level before attending Trinity College Dublin to undertake a MEd, specialising in Educational Management, followed by an MSc in IT in Education. She subsequently pursued her Doctorate with the University of Sheffield UK where she explored methods of risk assessment in the context of the higher education sector. Frances works currently in the area of eLearning Development within the Learning, Teaching and Technology Centre at the Dublin Institute of Technology where she supports lecturers as they engage with technology enhanced learning practices. She is also involved in the MSc in Applied eLearning supervising student research, as well as co-ordinating and lecturing on other accredited Continuing Professional Development courses offered by the centre. She is a member of DIT’s Research Ethics Committee, and she reviews articles for the British Journal of Education, Society & Behavioural Science, the Electronic Journal of eLearning, the International Journal of Educational Management, and Innovations in Education and Teaching International.
Frances also works as an eLearning Consultant, and she is a member of the National Panel of Teaching Practice Tutors with Waterford Institute of Technology.
